Film on the screen often suggests what has been. Our
experience of it is fleeting, immediate,
but part of its magic is its slippery relation to time: are we witness to something
new, now, or do we know
that what is before
us is a representation of a piece of the past?
"Forgotten Time" (1995, 9:00) is a reflection on the nature of memory and the mnemonic aspects
of film. The time of our burgeoning awareness is, or was, for many a powerful
event. This film portrays attempts at rediscovering that precious moment through
focusing on our first memory as our only tattered link to that nearly forgotten
time, using film as a catalyst and guide.
